A load of sod

I don't know if this is as popular in other parts of the country, but in this area this is how most newly constructed homes get their lawns--with sod. Unload it and lay it down and instant lawn!
Supposedly, Chattanooga is a difficult area for lawns because our climate is too hot in the summer for cool weather grasses and too cold in the winter for warm weather grasses. So, you can plant either kind but neither one thrives on its own without lots of help.

Definitely, I've seen a lot of that both in California and in Virginia. When you buy a new house, who wants to wait for a lawn to grow in? Oh, if your son thinks THAT was embarrassing, imagine what you'll come up with in a few years! :)

We can buy lawn like that too- a friend has a business growing it- ours tends to be rolled up rather than in squares.
I agree with Chris- it is our job to be embarrassing! My brother once got hold of his teenage son's cell phone and sent a photo to everyone on his contacts list- now that IS embarrassing.
