Not so easy money

Don't know about other parts of the country, but these places are popping up all the time. I guess they provide a service but the interest rates they charge are steep. I imagine if your financial situation is such that you need to use one, then you truly can't afford their interest rates. I do have to say, their building is quite colorful.

They're popping up everywhere here too, creating lots of eye pollution. They plaster their crass, gaudy signs all over their buildings and cheapen the streetscape. It's getting hard to take pictures anywhere without them intruding. Generically we call them payday banks.

These places are usurious. I think the Muslims have the right idea about lending money - I hear they charge borrowers no interest at all.

Sorry Carol but I think the pawn shop has all the charm of a big yellow shoe box. We would call it a portacabin over here.

I understand what a pawn shop , traditionally, is, but what does "Title Pawn" mean? Surely, surely, not title to real estate???

And, yeah, it's one of the ugliest buildings, but highlights how hideous most takeaway joints are too - and we've got used to them!

We have those all over the place too. Interestingly enough, ours come in yellow and red as well. Personally, I loathe "Title Loan" buildings as much as what they offer (and their annoying TV, radio, and paper ads).
