Pampas grass in bloom

The pampas grass is blooming now. I just love the huge stalks. To me, they're exotic because we didn't have anything like that in Massachusetts.

I like the furry heads on the stalks. These plants can grow quite vigorously and can take over a big patch in your garden but they are attractive.

There is some growing in neighbor's yard next door. I'm always tempted to cut a stalk or two to use in an ornamental arrangement but I never have asked permission. It just looks so pretty outside that I think I should just leave it for everyone to enjoy.

They are really beautiful, but on a windy day if the fine feathers come loose they can cause quite an allergic reaction when they reach your eyes and/or nose.

That is so cool looking. You would think the wind would just blow those right over!
